I just got a handwritten rejection from an agent;-
"Unfortunately I am too busy to take on more work. Good luck."

Since I have 4 childrens picture books doing the rounds at the moment, do I interpret this as "My list is full, never darken my letter box again?" Or, since there was no form rejection do I dare submit my other stuff to her?

I think I'm edging toward the former, but we don't have many PB agents in the UK and I'm loathe to knock yet another off my list of 'possibles.'

I'm confused - it doesn't seem to take much these days;)

I'd take it as "I can't even think about taking on a project right now." Try again in six months.
I should have added: "Don't be afraid of soliciting agents across the Atlantic, especially ones who will take e-mail queries. In your query stress you are in Bri9tain and they may let you send partials or fulls by e-mail as well.

Scott

Thanks Scott, I think that is the sensible way to read it.

I've been threatening to try 'over the water,' for some time now, but the postage costs have put me off. I'll do as you suggest and hunt out the ones that take email queries.

Much appreciated.

Go to Preditors and Editors and go through their list of agents. They have agents on the list on both sides of the Atlantic and in far more strange places. Start with the ones that have a web link and work from there. This list also has a section in Bewares where you can research specific agents and publishers. Don't forget Australia too.

Scott
