Help Selling A Tv Idea

Usually, ideas are not copyrightable, so you must have had something written that you copyrighted.

Television rarely buys ideas and if they do, I'd not think they'd pay much.

In Hollywood, ideas are a dime a dozen, and everybody has six of them, or more.

I think your best bet would be to write a script for one segment of the show and enter it in the ongoing television writing contest that Larry Brody conducts over at www.tvwriter.com, after of course, you copyright that script. If you are right and the show is new and fresh and workable, people at tvwriter will notice this and give you a boost. Scripts by writers who win Larry's contest do get circulated around town.

You may never write another segment but at the least you'd get a "created by" credit and that's nothing to sneeze at.

You should check at www.tvwriter.com because although I'm not familiar with it I'm sure there's some kind of accepted form for a reality show script. There's a message board there and you can ask, if you don't otherwise see anything on it among the materials that are up at the site.
