It was like a scene out of a cliché horror movie: me holding the rake while John bled, his mouth slack with astonishment, his arms flailing, and his eyes...well, the rake tines prevented them from doing anything at all.

(Yes, I know it's more than 20, but I felt it would be weird to chop it off mid sentence.)
