I'm almost done. I could finish the last chapter tonight if I so choose to. The picture in my mind is clearer than the sky on a cloudless day. I have never felt more confident, aware, and awe-stricken. I have been a slave to this story for two months and three weeks. Day in and day out. I divested pieces of my soul. For this book I made the sacrifice of walking around like a soulless member of society. The energy exerted, the exhaustion felt, it's all a bit much.
All along I knew it would be worth it in the end, I never once doubted that. Completion is a well earned dessert. Accomplishment is a feeling hard to beat. I take nothing for granted.
Here I sit now, with a bit of apprehension and trepidation setting in. What will happen when I finish? Where will I go? What will I do? Will I feel as empty as I fear I might?
At first I thought for certain that there would be more books to come. I know I have them in me. I am full of words, more then ever before. But the question remains, do I want to put myself through this again? Will this all feel different after I write this last chapter? I have never given birth, but will it be anything like a mother forgetting the labor pains as soon as her newborn is placed in her arms?
Whew.
