Hi everyone, just curious to know what you all felt were the best Fantasy, Sci-Fi or F/SF mags or e-zines out there. Oh, and why?

Cheers,

For Science Fiction I'd have to say Asimov's and Analog. I haven't read either of them in awhile (I drifted over to the dark side, ie Fantasy) but they always had quality science fiction. For fantasy there's the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. One of the nice things about those three magazines is they're more or less the size and shape of paperbacks, so they're easy to carry around.

But as far as I'm concerned, the all time best magazine for fantasy is Realms of Fantasy. It's big, it's glossy, and it's the only one I ever read cover to cover. I read everything from the letters to the editor to the game reviews. There's a movies column, a books column, and even a folktales column. The stories are always top quality. My dream is to have something published by them.

Thanks for the reply Lady Cat. I was a Mag of F&SF reader in the past too, but sort of drifted. As for Sci-Fi occasionally Asimov´s and Analog I was a very occasional reader.

Shadow_Ferret thanks for the link, most helpful.

Take care guys,

I'm a fan of Black Gate (and not just because they've just bought a story from me). Beautifully produced mag that focuses on adventure fantasy

It depends on what you like. I like clarity in stories. Some ambiguity is Ok, but not a big surreal trip. I'm not a big horror person, but I read and enjoyed an issue of Cemetary Dance.

Talebones is also very good, straddling intersting stories without getting too deep.

I actually don't like Realms of Fantasy so much since it's tastes dont' reflect my own.

The biggest and best are, Analog, and Locus for magazines, and for e-zines I cannot really help you.
