Good morning everyone -
A bit of a different question -- I hope it's not out of place here.
With my novel about to come out, I'm trying to figure out how best to thank people involved in the process. Right now I'm thinking of sending thank you notes/cards to:
- my agent
- my editor
- my publishers (hc & tpb)
- my publicist
- the designer/art director

First off, is a thank you card enough? For someone like my editor and agent especially? And if not, what would be?

And secondly, can anyone think of anyone else I should be thanking?

TIA, R.

I think the best way to thank these people is in your Acknowledgments. But I'm sure notes or gifts would be appreciated as well.

Willie, what did you end up doing? I'm wondering the same thing at this point (especially regarding my editor).

Big card addressed to the company as a whole, encompassing everyone who works there including the publicist and sales force, saying: You guys are the best, thank you all very much. Then individual cards to your editor and agent saying much the same.

I send them slices of cake laced with a rare benign poison to which only I hold the cure unless they adore the thing which I have written and ensure me bestseller status.

It's worked wonderfully.

Mmmm. Never thought of doing this before. I'm sending my editor and publishing assistant a Christmas card this year, and I'm taking them out to lunch on the day of my book launch too in January (they usually pay, but I guess as a thank you I thought I'd splash the cash this time - I have a lot of time for the editorial team at MNW...).
:)

I guess I did that, too. Well, sort of. My editor flew in from Toronto for the launches and took me out for lunch that day. Then I took her, my family, my in-laws and my boss out for dinner that night, prior to the launch itself.
