I'm wondering if I should relabel my novel a techno-thriller so that I can submit to agents who claim not to take SF. It's the first in a series I'm writing, and it definitely gets hardcore SF in later volumes but the first two books could easily be called techno-thrillers. The most SF they get are a few androids, genetically-modified lifeforms, and a scene involving a space shuttle launching. It's no more SF than a Crichton novel.
I figure if an agent didn't want to represent the series when it got more SF-ey, I could always find another who would. Am I wrong to limit myself to agents who accept SF when I could call it a techno-thriller? Is this okay?
