:D Hello, everyone! I have heard good things about AbsoluteWrite in another forum, and decided to check it out. I love what I see! So many choice, daunting right this minute, but it seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

I have been writing full time for the last two years, working on the 2nd draft of my first novel, a middle reader. The only publishing credit I have is three poems, but that was over 10 years ago. I have written around 15 poems, one short story and a couple of essays that are out there looking for a home as we speak.

I have been doing a lot of research over the last few months about freelancing, and I want to pursue it as a money making career. That is especially what I like about this site, so much info on freelancing.

I have a couple of questions. When I registered for an ezboard account, it didn't ask for some of the information I have seen when I clicked on a few of your names, like bibliography, send me a message, whether I wanted to show or hide my email. Why not?

The other question is, how do you get those cool pictures on the left hand side under your name, and funny sayings? I see the emoticons here, but that is all.

Glad to be here. Hope to learn, grow as a writer, and make friends.

I found the answers to my questions by myself. Did an edit on my acccount to show my personal information. Thought that was the reason no one ever said hello, because I read the take it outside thread, and figured ya'll didn't like anonymous posters. Or maybe I smell bad.:eek

I am a refugee from WN. Though I was friends there with the majority of members, there were two trolls who I made the mistake of battling with while I was a member for the last 2 months, and I got sick of being talked smack to. I was given this link several times while I was there from other members when I asked about other boards. There are some very nice people at WN, but the thing I have grown weary of is the almost complete lack of a moderator. I am pretty new to the internet message board world, but I see now that I prefer a little moderating. I like that your only rule is to respect each other. They don't have that rule at WN.

From reading through the take it outside board, I see that the vets here are familiar with WN. Ask anybody over there about Denise, they will say she is funny, smart, friendly, a good writer, but quick to retaliate if attacked. Most will say they will miss me, I would guess, because I chatted a bit, and did critiquing and got my own work critiqued. Took and gave advice, found and gave helpful links.

So, here I am, no longer anonymous, with foo foo powder on to keep down the smell, hoping someone might come say hello to me now! I'm getting a complex! Someone else joined on the 4th and was greeted within the hour. :\ I guess if no one has said hello by Monday, I'll quietly slink off into oblivion! :hat

No, no. Don't slink away. We're a friendly bunch, honest. Chunky will be along any minute now with the official welcome.

About freelancing...have you read Jenna's book? Packed full of priceless information. I highly recommend it.

Welcome to the Cooler!

Not to worry, wurdwise! I think everybody's attention is focused on one of our most popular threads here, at the moment. Everybody's distracted.

I too am a recent discoverer of AW--I came from two small writing groups, though I love them, they are lethargic, inactive, and really don't wish to forge ahead. I will miss them badly, but I check in every once in a while.

I'm very glad you touched down here, it will be a safe landing. We'll put the chocks under your wheels so you can't fly off! Stay with us. This community has it all with soon to be population hits of over 4,000. There are multiple experts in every field here. So, go out there and get lost in Absolute Write.

;) Ah hah! There is life after paranoia! LOL

Thanks, guys, for the welcome. But who is this masked popular thread, and where can I find her/him/it? I want to be distracted too!:rollin :rollin :rollin

Lois Lane reporting back. Am I right? Is the the thread you speak of?

The Neverending PublishAmerica Thread (Publish America) ( 1 2 3 ...225 ) 4483

triceretops

Yes, it is the Neverending PA thread. It's been a hot one for a long time and it heated up a lot yesterday.

I see that. I just spent the last 15 or so minutes skimming through it. Deja vu all over again. I guess my best bet is just to take your advice and dive straight into AW, newbie or not!:eek Though I won't be joining that thread. Thankly, I figured PA out while watching a local author's own nightmare, which he still thinks is a dream.

Thanks for tuning in and convincing me not to flee with my tail tucked under, well, my tail. :D

:D Thanks, Cindy, for the welcome. And no, I haven't read Jenna's book, but I have been snooping around here, and Jenna is quite the success story. Over the next fews days, I am going to read the section first about all her books. I have a mild case of panic disorder, and I was thrilled to see she has a book about the too. I feel like I've hit the jackpot finding this site.:D

Good morning, Denise, and welcome to the Cooler. I would have been here sooner, but I am one of the few members here who sleeps when the sun is below the horizon. :p

I hope you find lotsa good stuff here.

Hiya Denise and welcome. :)

I visit and post occasionally on writers net but I live here. Get comfy, I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Hi, ChunkyC and Frank! I clicked on your website just now, Frank, and realized quickly it was something I wanted to check out. Saved it to my favorites. Thanks for the welcome, both of you.:lol

aka eraser

Wow! I love her already! She's so...so...perceptive and intelligent!

;) Now guys, don't fight over me.!

I am going to fit right in with this group. Ya'll are sweet and cool. I did play limerick, and I have been following the neverending thread off and on throughout the day. It's like watching a train wreck. So are several other heated conversations in that forum.

I learned my lesson about mixing it up at WN, though. Somebody would have to start throwing rotten tomatoes through this screen, real ones!, to get a rise out of me.

I am going to be a perfect angel. Right. And I have some swamp land I know you'd be interested in, too.:lol But seriously, I like this place, and I am sure I will make lots of friends here. Looks like I already have made a few!;)

I am holding off a bit in delving too deeply into the forums because I read we are moving. Don't want to get used to one style and have to learn a brand new one in 2 weeks. The old brain cells take enough of a beating as it is! :hat

Will Abrahams

Well, Denise, you beat me getting here. Now I can't say "Welcome to the forum." But I'm glad to see you here. And I won't be going back to.........well,you know.

But why are all these guys fighting over you? Haven't you told them about us?

Love, Unk

triceretops

Hey, another new friend! So, Will, are you here to stay or just after wurd-girl too?

Ok. I am feeling pretty cozy here already, so I thought I'd jump right in. I posted a poem for critique in share your work. If any of you are of a mind to, go check it out and tell me what you think.

And thanks again for making me feel right at home.
