Hi. I am a new member and a happy member of another writer's workshop which is closing down its fiction section in January. :| I may stay ith their Science fiction and Fantasy workshop, but since I write very little of that, I have been looking for a new place to get help with my writing and help others as I am able.

Are their any rules about how many reviews you should do before you post, the length of chapters posted, or how many chapters you can post at a time? Also, where can I look to understand about ezCodes and a custom signature?

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me. I'm looking forward to being a member of this group.

Hi Jill. Welcome to the Cooler.

First, there are no hard and fast rules about posting work for crit, other than to do so in the Share Your Work forum. There's a message there 'stuck' to the top called PLEASE READ THIS. I would read that and then cruise around in there to get an idea of the size and quantity of posts. Usually folks will try to keep them relatively small, but if you wish to post something a bit long, putting the word count at the top of the post is a courtesy that lets the reader know how much time they'll have to commit to reading it.

As for ezcodes, they are the formatting codes that determine the look of text, or input of the emoticons at the right. To insert those, just click on them. For other formatting, hilight the text you want to format and then select from the buttons at the top (B for bold and so on) and you'll see the results in the text entry box. For the drop-down lists (typeface, color, size) you need to click on "set font" after making your selections.

Finally, for a custom sig, you can find all that in "My control center", which appears as a link at the top left of most of the pages, once you've logged in.
