God- fing- damn! Dead Man’s Chest was awesome. But now my story looks god awful by comparison.

But that’s okay – ‘Cause now I will make it even better!

I thought I had maybe five or six drafts to go before I would be happy with it. Not anymore. Now I’m counting on at least another ten. Maybe twenty.

Thank you for the no spoiler thing, I dared to look at the thread. And I'm glad it's awesome, I was afraid it'd be bad.

Now, I need to see it!

Still in OK
I read it was getting pretty poor reviews. I don't think that will stop me from seeing it. But heard it was a lot of CGI with little story.

The reviews are mixed, pretty much fifty-fifty from the critics. Still, a lot of the same reviewers who didn't like it the first time around (but then jumped on the bandwagon later) don't like this one, either.

Mixed for me, having seen it. It's still great fun; to get the better jokes you've got to know the first pretty well. Big shocker at the end, but the movie as a whole serves more as setup for At World's End than it works as its own film. The final installment is what's going to really put this one in perspective.

Most of the complaints I've heard is that it's too long - but I LOVE long movies.

I didn't mind the length. Some critics have also said it doesn't go anywhere during that length, which I sort of agree with. I didn't mind, though, because this story is more of two-parter, which I didn't initially realize.

Special effects were pretty striking, though, more in the details than anything. But I didn't think they were put to use as well as in the first film.

Possibly spoiler-ish, no details, but warning just the same (highlight your cursor between the brackets):

[My reaction to the last five seconds of the film, though, is this thread's title. The entire theater collectively gasped, then started shouting expletives when the black screen dropped.]

Ive read reviews on Movie Times, and they went down to 1.3 out of 5 stars on this one. But that wasnt going to stop me. Total 3.4 stars, and Superman Returns got 4 stars. I think this is a better movie.

If you enjoyed the first one, you will definitely get a kick out of this one.
Lots of action scenes, great acting, story takes some twists and turns, and the ending is surprising. Yes, there was a large portion that wasnt as entertaining as the rest, but it still held to its charm, and visuals.
The length was bordering on uncomfortable -- but then it ended well. Two thumbs up here

Critics can be easily influenced, and some just prefer other genres. This is just good old fashion fun, the way a movie should be -- no need for cursing or sex here. Its just very simple .. good story, good acting, good directing.

Again, if you liked the first one, this is a must see.
