Really? I think that market may be in the doldrums. YMMV.

Don't worry too much about style itself. There are a lot of would-be authors who get caught up in trying to write in a particular style, and it usually comes out pretty bad. Save copying another writer's style for parodies.

Instead, focus on clearly communicating what you have to say. Make sure a reader would understand what you are saying. Make sure you have your grammar and punctuation correct. That's all the work on learning your own style that you need. This is how the best-selling authors out there get their style, by not thinking about their style.

Orson Scott Card has a great essay about style on his web page.

There are a few techniques you can use, such as metaphors and the like, that some people consider a part of style. Drop those sorts of things in when you find use for them, but most of all, write clearly and write naturally.

What sort of response are you getting from editors?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say "style," writersliving. Do you mean what genre you write it, or do you mean style as in that thing about your writing that gives it your distinct voice and flavor? The first one is something you can pick, but the second is more who you are. You can develop the second, and hone it, but in my opinion it's not really something you can pick. I guess I just don't understand what you're asking. Can you clarify?
