Who else is going to the World Con?

Dawno, I know you are, and MacAllister. Anyone else? I'm trying to get all the Hugo nominees read in time to vote.

There's a good thread on Making Light about World Con Going.

As Dawno said in the now-lost-thread, if there are enough of us, we should try to get together for an AW something-or-other.

I'd go, but where would I plug in my coffee IV?

I only have a hundred-foot extension cord, and people'd be stepping on it and kicking it around...

Dude, it's an SF convention. It's fueled by people who imbibe caffeine and books.

So, you're saying people would probably be trying to tap into my line?

No, thanks. I'm staying in Canada where it's eighty degrees, and full of caffiene and books.

One day I will be able to make it to a World Con. Maybe sometime in the 2010's..... :(

Ah well, for now I will content myself with my annual trips to Shore Leave, in Baltimore, MD. If anyone is going to be there this weekend, let me know! I'd love to meet you. :Jump:

someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
Ghost - the very best way to understand what a World Con is (at least the SF World Con) is to go to the site and read about it.

It's very difficult to explain succinctly, and nobody could do it justice on this thread, which, anyway, was opened up by Medievalist to see if anyone else is going and would like to meet up.

I'm reading the schedule and wondering if there's time to clone myself...

(hence the Idiot comment as a link was right there and I was just blindly going about my buisness AND asking dumb questions)

Cool , thanx .
The hugo awards , really ? That is quite awsome that you guys get to be part of all that . I will definatly check the site out right now (although I wont be in attendance , sad to say .)
You truely do learn something new every day (I had been under the false assumption that the hugos were an award from the industry , not the fans)
Thanx again

I'm looking forward to the day that I can attend my first WorldCon or other major SF/F convention. There's several authors I want to meet/get book signatures from, some from AW, others from elsewhere.

Alan, don't do what I did, and got to a World Con first; go to a regional con or three.

I was in my teens, by myself, and while it was mostly fun, I'd do it differently now.

For one thing, I'd follow the Accumulated Wisdom here.

I wish I could go too. But at least Dawno is being kind enough to take one of my books along to be signed by a pal of mine who's going to be there to launch his new novel.

*shameless plug for friend alert, please feel free to ignore if you wish*

Unfortunately, I won't be able to go, but if anyone attends next year's Baycon in San Jose, CA, let me know. That's the only con I go to each year.

* begin shameless plug for friends *

Some friends of mine will be attending World Con as vendors in the dealers' room. Jim and Melody Rondeau will be selling used books and other odds-and-ends, so be sure to check out their booth.

* end shameless plug - thank you for your attention *

Oh, how I wish I could be there. My agent, my editor and my very favorite author are all going to be in attendance....and here I sit, lonely and writing on the East Coast.

Have fun, y'all!

How about Friday morning, since there's some talk of a Thursday lunch for Viable Paradise folks (and I know I'm not the only person here who'll want to attend both)?

Before 10 AM on Friday works for me; I really need to hear a panel that's at 10 AM.
