Cause this one, I think, actually matters!
Come on ladies, let's show F&SF that we do actually write stuff! Let's give them submissions!

Apparently there's something of a movement to have women submit stuff to F&SF on August 18th.
Apparently they don't get enough girl cooties![]()
Which is motivation to submit.
Edit: I should say, I found out about this thanks to Sharon Mock![]()

I should say that I don't think F&SF is particularly sexist. I see this as a challenge and a prank, not a hostile act.
Besides, the Slush God says "Bring it on," and who am I to deny him?
I'll be writing something new and fresh for the occasion...
Shweta said:Yeah, I agree. I don't think F&SF is anti-female at all.
I do suspect it's anti-girl-cooties, some (by which I mean they aren't as fond of "girly"/feminine stories). That's a matter of editorial tastes, of course. So I'm going to work on a story with fewer girl cooties for this.
But the real problem! Seems to be that gurls don't submit enough! So we should!
dragonjax said:Heh. I've scored something like 40 rejections from F&SF over the past 10 years. Lately, the best I've gotten was a rejection from Gordon himself, who liked a particular story but not enough to buy it. (I wound up selling that one to another pro-rate magazine.)
It's the style of the mag that I find rather elusive.

UnforgottenCountry said:Hmm... haven't picked one of those up in years. I wonder if the short story I'm working on now would fit. *pokes story* Guess I'd better hit the library and find out, eh?![]()
Although I don’t know how many cooties it has…![]()
