There's no great urgency about this but I was just wondering what to do?

I submitted a story to a UK mag 18th April and received a rejection on 20th May.
Now I realise that I submitted a different story to the same mag on 21st March and haven't got back a rejection or acceptance.

How long should I wait for a rejection before submitting the story elsewhere, taking into consideration that UK mags don't like simsubs?

I'm not really keen on doing a follow-up, as I always presume that if they wanted to get in touch they would have done, and I don't want to make a pest of myself.

It depends on the magazine's response time. Some magazines mention average response times in their guidelines. If the magazine has gone past that time frame, it wouldn't hurt to send a short follow-up email just asking if they have decided on your story.

Don't bother following up until it's been in the void for 4 months. If they haven't rejected this one it may be because they're giving it more consideration.
