Picture Book

Angelic<3

Thank you everyone for all your help in my previous post. I found the links to be very helpful, and I've been able to come up with the answers to most of my questions.
However, I still can't figure out, for a children's picture book, whether to write our name/title of book on the left side of the page, and the page number on the right side, or to write name/title/page all on the right side. Different sources list it differently.
Which do you think would be more preferred?
Thanks guys!

Editors don't care...just don't put any of that information on the BOTTOM of the page (like the page number.) I've heard editors say it annoys them. But even then, it won't annoy them so much that they turn down a manuscript they love.

But for me, I put
Word from Title/Mylastname/page number
on the top left hand side of the page -- but so far, I've gotten compliments on a lot of things about my work, but never a remark at how nifty the slug on my manuscript was placed.

For any kind of manuscript, you make it easier for everyone concerned if the name and page number are on the right side of the page.

No one will shoot you for doing it another way, but it can be a pain in the #$$ to have part of it on teh left, only because if means you have to flip through the pages twice to see everything. And since 90% of people are right-handed, they flip with their left hand, so have everything on the right makes it much easier.

But whichever side you use, stick with it. There's naever a reason to have part on teh left and part on the right.

If it's on paper, the correct way to number is Hemingway/Old Man/ pg 2 in the right side of the header. It saves time, headaches, and swear words.

Now that's interesting, James...at the papers I worked (around 20 years ago), we always listed title first and that's how I learned in it J-school. I just figured everyone did. They weren't huge papers but not west podunk news either. Hmmm...they were in the same area though, I wonder if it was a regional thing. Regional slugs -- sounds like a gardening problem. Did y'all end with -30- or ###?
