I posted this to Ask the Editor last week. I'm hoping to generate some responses here, since there aren't any in the Editor forum thus far... How are the major publishing houses structured in terms of decision-making on manuscripts? In other words, once an agent pitches and submits the MS to an editor at a major house, how many people usually read it before a final decision is made? Is it just the editor him/herself, or is the decision usually made by committee?? And what's the general turnaround time for the editor to make an offer (or reject the MS)? Thanks in advance!
