If you haven't started, consider this your invitation

The next WotC open call will be between " September 1st and January 1st". Have you started your new project, yet?

I think the AW Sci-Fi/Fant boards should take over the imprint.

See this part:

"We've had the pleasure of launching a number of writing careers, and we would like to launch some more, but that doesn’t mean we’re exclusively looking for previously unpublished authors. What we want are great books with the potential for cross-over sales outside the strict confines of the SF/fantasy/horror genres, and we’re casting our net as wide as possible to find those books."

They're certainly launching mine.

My only advice: remember that scene in "Walk the Line" where the producer tells Johnny Cash what song to sing just before the Folsom Prison Blues? That's the kind of book to write to get in.

Mine is definitely otherworld fantasy. With zombies and dragons.

It's also deeply drenched in the magical real, and the post-modern.

Anyway, the way to read those words isn't to say "Oh, they're looking for XXX..."

How about, "Oh, they're not really interested in everything that's already on the bookshelf. Let me see if I can come up with something new."

The words from my initial cover-letter that made an impact (I suspect) "Why start a new imprint to do the same thing you and your competitors are already doing?"
Think about that, and do the best job you can creating your masterpiece.
