I had a few questions and it looks like this is the best place to ask them.
I've been researching a celebrity for the past couple years. Initially, it was because I liked their films, but then, since there is no biography about them out there, I began to think about writing one of my own. So, I have finally started writing. It would focus mainly on their work, not be a gossipy tell all sort of thing.
I would like to include photos in it, as there are many out there, film stills, etc. Reading some of the publisher websites out there, it seems they leave it up to you to obtain the rights to them. How do you go about doing this? And how expensive is it? Do you use services such as Gettyimages or Photofest or places like that? And since all the photos would be over 50 years old, how does public domain fit into that?
I'll probably have more questions as I get further along in the project. But, thought I would ask about this first.
