The official offer came last week, at long last!

I won't go into detail because my agent (which I now have because of this deal, and he's been great so far!) is negotiating.

I thought everyone would like to know that it was real, and first-time novelists (like me) were discovered, and we're being treated very well, so far.

Now... Where are my Oreos? Bring me the Oreos of VICTORY!

:hooray:

Badducky, you rock! Keep us informed on the various stages;) :) .

I completely agree that they certainly take their time.

I still have not got my rejection letter from them. I just wish I had received a short, informal 'No' for closure, so I can stop biting my nails.:tongue

Best,
Pencilone

Pencilone, if they haven't gotten back to you, I'd definitely write them a letter.

I was writing them a letter from the sixth month, and every two months after.

And, I feel that it helped me going into this week.

Congratulations and Oreos for you! I'm so happy to see an AW member from that long thread about the open call get in--it's like, vicarious victory. We can all say, "We knew that bad ducky when he was still at the fingernail bitin' stage!"

Congrats, fan-damn-tastic, and it's about time! I'm glas to hear someone succeeded at that contest. You'll have to forgive me but I don't recall if you posted the name of your project. What's it titled? While I wait I'm gonna cram a handful of double stuffs in my mouth and savoir your victory (now where's the milk?)

I put up a MySpace page in my sig where I put more info so people who knew me way back when and want to find out about people can discover my books and buy them.

Just last night I ran into this woman who always assumed I was an idiot because when we met I was a barista working in retail, who had left graduate school (for this writer, that program was useless). I mentioned that I was working on my third book.

She said, "Oh, it's nice that you're still reading."

I had to shake my head. "No, actually, my first book hits the stores..."

She didn't believe me.

LMAO! How condensending. Like you've graduated from Dick and Jane books and now cruise the classic Disney storybooks. People are so full of themselves it just burns me some days. I had a similar experience, without the published novel part. Some of my co-wrokers know that I write and have published short stories and articles but my novel is still waiting for the big nod. So, sitting in the break room one of these co-workers asks how the book is coming and another says, "He's still on chapter one, page one." Before I tip his coffee in his lap I tell him, "I've finished all 456 pages months ago; you do any writing lately besides grocery lists and alamony payments?" Everyone else thought it was funny.

Enjoy your success and the others that will certainly follow, and clean those oreos off your face.

just to tweak her a bit more.
