someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
I'm not sure anyone here earns money from blogging - however I did see a post in Paying Markets about someone whose contract requires them to post an article and blog about it to get paid. The article posted needs 1000 hits before they earn $2.

You'd need to be capturing a lot of traffic to make a living. That's probably true of anyone trying to make $ online - it's all about traffic.

On the two blogs that I've set up as "money makers" one is about erotica (resources tips and such) and the other is about blogging. I don't have enough traffic yet to really opine about whether or not its worth it. However, Darren Rowse over at Problogger runs 20 blogs and is rumored to be making a pretty penny off of them. I found his blog on blogging to be a pretty good resource for people looking to live off of blogging.

Check out dooce.com -- it's a hugely popular blog and the person who owns it garners her sole income from it now. And it's pretty much a mommy blog now. I don't think that's what it started out as--she was fired once for keeping the blog (hence the term "dooced" when on gets fired for blog content)--but that's what it ended up as.

Thank you to everyone for sharing. Not sure if I will start blogging for a profit yet - 20 sites is alot to run at once !!! It is great to have the resources for example.

Hugs,

Mary

For earning money through blogging the best thing to do is to join a Blog network like, Know More Media, Weblog Inc, B5 Media etc that pays money to its bloggers. However, it is not easy to be selected by them. Since, they are paying their bloggers, they seek top quality writers.
If you want to earn money through your own blog then Google Adsense is the best.
Many people have the idea that blogging is very easy and simple which is exactly the opposite. If you want to be successful in blogging you need work harder.

NinerNiner

I made money blogging for the NinerNiner blog network for a few months. This group pays per post to several blogs on different topics. Sometimes you also receive a bonus, depending on how good the advertising revenues are. I don't know of any other group blogging with this business model. The others I've looked at promise you a percentage of the ad revenue for your blog or post -- something that's impossible to verify.

Know More Media pays for blogging. However, you have to write about business topics only and they want top quality writers on business. Since they pay, Know More Media has got some high quality bloggers now.
B5Media is a good place too but they will give you a share of the ad revenue and as far as I know it is a credible place.
Weblog, INC is a great place for getting paid.

One problem I am facing now is that some blogs only pay through Paypal. I cannot have a Paypal account because it is not legal yet in my country. So, I cannot even apply to those blog networks.

I get paid to blog at Creative Weblogging. It's a flat rate with a requirement of 7 to 10 articles a week. It's not much money, but I'm not in it for that, I'm in it for the exposure.

He states that he earns $100,000 per year from his blogs but I'm not sure if that is Australian or US$, and yes ProBlogger is the best place to learn about making money off blogging.

Of course the first step is good content and then you need traffic. After that you can worry about making $$$

Thanks Raz for those other links. I'm not sure if I care about making money off the blog. Obviously it would be nice but it's intended as a "platform" for my books and a resource for anyone looking for help in those areas.
