The new Xanth novel just came out. Sorry, I forgot the title, I got too excited at the new book. heh
...
Oh, it is called Pet Peeve

He is still doing that series? Whew! The first time I read one of those books was in high school, back about twenty years ago. The book was Dragon on a Pedestal, and remains one of my favorites by Mr. Anthony.

I hope he has much success with this new work. I think it's great he's had this series going as long as he has.

I've never read any of his novels, but I've been meaning to do it. Any suggestions on where to start?

Hello Iggy,

I always find it's easier to start reading a series at the beginning; the first book in the Xanth series is Spell for Chameleon. If you are looking for a stand alone book by Mr. Anthony, I enjoyed Prostho Plus (it's about an intergalatic dentist) very much.

Hope this helps,
Chac

I'd say start at the beginning of the Xanth series. I got about 8 books into it before other stuff popped up higher on my 'must read' list. They're good fun books, and you don't really have to have read the whole series to 'get' the ones in the middle but I'm an anal personality type so I always start at the beginning.

hahaha me too. I got all but the last too, there's 28 so if you want to read the whole series, it'll take awhile. I love em and find them worth it

28?! Man, he'll be up to 30 by the time I make through my backlog at home. I've got a good dozen plus sitting on the shelf right now....

This thread actually forced me to head into the basement, sort through a half-dozen boxes of paperbacks and find all of my Xanth novels. Now I'll have to read through them again in order, after what, twenty years?

And another pile of books that I haven't seen in awhile. A nice afternoon, it was.

So, some people really do read him, huh? Never would have believed it. I try never to blast other writers, but I always make an exception for Piers Anthony. Lord, his novels are bad!

Well, so far I have to agree - sorry to all his fans out there. He is really creative, though, I have to hand that to him in reading most of Virtual Mode/Fractal Mode. He's also prolific and has made, apparently, a good living at it.

It does seem like he has people getting naked alot and mentions sex, etc quite a bit - geez. I think in Fractal Mode it was going on every ten pages! Glad he's got a healthy...uh, interest. Just a bit more than I found to my taste, and I am a romantic. ;)
