When should a chapter end?
This might come off at first as a pretty dumb question, but I have come from the world of academic writing, APA style journal articles and what not. I have also found myself rather confused by the way that fantasy novels in particular seem to draw this line. Especially is the case when multiple terse perspectives alternate throughout the novel. I have seen some approaches that look based on some strange mishmash of time intervals, cliffhangers, or a semi-important event ending.
What are your opinions on when a chapter should end? I really honestly don't know the rule of thumb heh.
