I don't know about anybody else, but Ive thoght of a writers club that would be a good idea with all the people who want to screenwrite and learn more about it. I do go to a place like that. It not a club but it more like a writers siminar sometimes to learn about the in and out's of screenwriting.
what do you think?

:PartySmil That's right this place is one big writer's club. I've belonged to screenwriter's groups in the past, but found it hard because the #'s drop and become inconsistant. It's easier to have an in person group, but not always practical. There are seminars in different parts of the the country for screenwriting, but so far they seem expensive and then add travel cost and schedule into it. I'v gotten to the point of deciding to enroll in a good online course given by one of the good schools-this is to furthur my academic learning of the screenwriting craft. Down to choice of 2 and I don't think I'd go wrong with either one-both have advanced courses.

Outside of that a lot can be accomplished right here with this group. I think between the 2 I'll get a much more well rounded perspective.

:e2sven:Oh and P.S.: There's a post down this pg. "The Screenplay Club"-script vote by Nique.

We have decided to read, study and disect the chosen script "Shawshank". It's a new thing we're doing, but very useful 4 learning craft. Should be very indepth and be a benefit to all involved. So join the fun. There's links to the script on the post.

I'd like to find out

who's going to what siminars and then have a water cooler get together.
Even if it's just two people it would be great to meet other posters face to face.

(or, I don't know, maybe it would be best to keep some mystery about ourselves.)

I think we've all ready got the club going here on the boards.
We're a pretty good group.

Writer'sliving, you can always try to start one up in your local community.
You can post ads on school bulletin boards announcing the club and you can also post on forums to see who might be local.

You would be surprised how many writers from your area visit the boards.
I only use three boards and so far I've found 5 writers who live around Indianapolis.

LOL. Could be interesting though. I'm looking into seeing if there's any seminars going on this summer in New York. Do they have seminars in New York?

I would think

that they do. NY is the other Hollywood hotspot.

If Bill Martell holds another seminar close enough to Indy I'm going to try for that.

If you find one in NY I might check that out. I have family in NewYork.
