Mortality rates

Could someone please point me to a Web site that lists the mortality rates, per state, for 2005. I'm not interested in who died of what, I just need to know how many people died per state. Or, to simplify matters, an ordered list of mortality, from least to greatest, or vice-versa.

I typed in "Death by States" in a webseach and it hooked me up to 2002s death by state numbers in infoplease.com. In just a couple of minutes of searching I found a few places online that might be helpful but I'm not sure how to link them here. I couldn't find anything for 2005 though (could it be still too soon to have those numbers?)

It's the darndest thing! I typed in "mortality rates by state" and "Which states have the highest mortality rates?" and I got bupkiss.

This may not have the data in the form that you want. You can also check
www.cdc.gov fast facts a-z then click on Deaths

If neither of these are what you want, try searching the National Center for Health Statistics website - www.cdc.gov/nchs
