Strange Traffic on my Blog

I started a blog a couple weeks ago. I was really excited to see that I had some visitors, but they seem to be coming from Pakistan. Which seems a bit odd to me.

Also they seem to be finding my blog through:

http://zombiestat.com

http://adsensewatchdog.com


Anybody know anything about these sites? I'm not sure why this creeps me out. Maybe it's the ZOMBIE!

I'd suggest you set up some preemptive anti-spam controls. Using an anti-spam plugin on WordPress, limiting URLs in comments unless the person has a previously approved post, etc.

Those bastards! I have no idea what "using bots" and all that means... but it sounds bad!!!

My blog is set up so I approve all posts. So I'm good there.

I'm not sure what anti-spam controls Blogger has. Can you help?

*SIGH* If I block them, then nobody will be visiting my blog!

Settings/Posts and Comments.

You can turn off anonymous posting too, if you need to. I like to avoid that as long as possible.[/QUOTE]

You get traffic in part by participating in the greater conversation—not specifically to promote your blog, but because you comment on someone else's blog, and they think you sound interesting and click through to your blog, or because you link to a post someone else made in your post, and they see the referral and so they check you out.

Posting regularly is huge; I'd try for at least 1 a week, and ideally 2 or three staggered posts.[/QUOTE]

Terrific advice, Medievalist. Thanks. And I'm not really worried about the number of people reading the blog. I'm sure what I write in it isn't too exciting. I just talk about writing etc. I just started it because my publisher thought it was a good idea. The whole "self-marketing" thing is a bit overwhelming!
