I was wondering who writes fiction on there blogs? It could be fantasy fiction or w.e.

I like the idea of putting bits of fiction on my blog, but I can never bring myself to do it. Either I don't think it's good enough to display publicly, or I think it is that good and should therefore be subbed somewhere. Putting it on a blog means you greatly reduce your options when it comes to publishing.
Maybe I'll put a sample of my novella on my blog at some point, I haven't decided on that yet...

I write creative non-fiction (ie. ridiculous stories about myself that are semi-true). I'd like to try posting some real fiction on my blog, but haven't yet!

I used to. But once I decided I wanted to get paid for writing, I stopped. I'm not really a prolific writer. So if I manage to write a short story, I'd rather sell it than publish it for free on a blog.

I do post little bits of creative non-fic, though. But I think that's because it's a diary kind of blog and when a fiction writer writes about their life it almost always reads like creative non-fiction.

^ what missesdash said. I have my first chapter up on my website under the "work" section as a teaser, but that's it.

Putting it up on a blog is giving your writing away for free. Exposure can be good and lead to paid work down the line, but if you write it and put it up right away, you're selling yourself short.

I did a fiction serial story on my blog for several weeks before deadlines on the stuff I get paid for writing took over and I didn't have time to do the serial anymore. At some point, I plan to pull the "episodes" together, polish them up and finish the story (I left it unfinished because of the time constraints) and self-publish it.

Many people around here do teasers on their blog from time to time, but if you have over 10% in public, you risk it being considered published already.

I have a serial fiction story constantly on the go that I publish in blog form. The link's in my signature. I think of it more like a textual webcomic than traditional fiction, and it's brought me lots of exposure, so I don't mind giving it away for free. I've been using it as a platform for related money-making efforts.

See I'm fairly prolific (usually 2-3K words per day)

So I'll post snippets here or there.

Sometimes I'll post the same section a several points in the editing process.
"this is what it looks like when I vomit it out."
"This is the first round edit stage"

etc

I find the creative process fascinating because it's different for each person.

I do these little vignettes called 100 Odd Words that are sometimes factual but other times fictional. They're more for practice than publication, so I don't mind giving them away like that.

My blogs are all fiction. I don't think the world needs another cranky middle-aged man blathering about the minutia of his daily life, or spouting off his half-baked political opinions.

I do snippets - the AbWrite blog chain, most regularly, and when Blog Like the End of the World day was popular, that. I did find that my sister-in-law was a bit too literal minded and took my postings about ending up "in quarantine" a bit too seriously.

I have my first novel posted on my blog. In fact, it's the reason why I started my blog. I have my entire first NaNo project posted as well. Otherwise, it's fictional snippets and then ranting and random spouts of history and TV and writing.

My writing buddies and I have been giving each other creative writing prompts, so I've been posting my version on my blog under 'creative writing'. I'm in the process of writing at least 2 short stories, so I can include on my blog too. People seem to like those posts the most so far.

I post fiction on Fridays. I'm also planning to post fiction on Thursdays starting NEXT Thursday (based on a thought experiment as a writing prompt).

My Book is about a teenage girl who's psychic. She uses journal entries throughout the book.

So on my blog, I've got a couple of journal entries that predate the book, so you can meet her and see her voice. But I've only done about 3 of them as they are hard to xome up with journal entries worth reading that aren't major stories.

I'm trying to figure what else to blog about.

My blog is solely dedicated to a new fiction story of mine. I know its crazy, but the story is new so I'm not so attached to it yet that I can't just give it away. It's a MG fantasy which is new for me so why not go one step further and blog instead. i love to see that others are doing some what the same.
