I started using Klout a few days ago, mostly to see what it was, and was mostly happy with it giving me some stats. It's nice seeing a summery of my social networking, though I'm not quite sure how accurate it is.

I was steadily dropping for a while, and then dipped back up to a new high, and then plummeted down to 15. I'm not super worried about this--I think 15 reflects my network a bit better than 45, but I'm sill really curious about what the heck happened.

Make sure your twitter and other authorizations are still working A big drop can mean the account is not connected.

That explains it. It dropped my Facebook account for some reason.

Nah. Klout is just another part of centralizing my social network and making me easy to find.

I just signed up for that too. I have no idea how it works. But apparently, I influence 1000 people. I feel sorry for those people.

Klout is way too invasive for my taste. The whole concept makes me want to run screaming from the room.

I think I only used it once (maybe twice) and got fed up. It is a neat tool if you are really interested in how your connections with others' represents you, but there's a lot of factors it doesn't take into account. Don't become too obsessed with raising the numbers, as there are much more productive things you can be doing with your time. :)

I like Klout, and I don't think in and of itself its terrible. It gives you a sort of operating system to see how effective your online social interactions are. The only thing they do I consider horribly hinky - but that I have been unable to verify - is that they will pay people with high Klout scores to tweet about other Klout users in order to get higher scores. That breaks the web of trust and devalues the very product they've created, if it's true.

I am not sure what is invasive about Klout. It just sits there being a number. I use it to get a rough read on how active I have been, to keep things ticking over.
