I'm in the process of editing some short stories I've wrote over the past few month. I'm using these to build a collection of what I've written. I figure the length of each individual piece warrants this; I know people really want value for their 0.99.

Initially, I had been writing with a common theme in mind but found it restrictive. I decided I best focus on getting the words on the pages first, let the themes come organically.

Most of my stories take place 'now', that is, in whatever particular time the reader lives.

However, I have two stories that are sci-fi horror. I don't specify a particular time period but it's is obvious to anyone that we don't have habitable space stations on commercial scale right now - in the future, maybe?

Do you think I should drop these from the collection?

Only if you want to.

Collections are just that - collections of an author's work. If you really want to impress, show the breadth of your ability by providing Tge reader with a broad range if stories, from horror to scifi to western to romance to erotica to whatever. If you want a themed collection stick to one genre with maybe a sampling or two of stories outside the genre.

Good luck. My own collection is one of my slowest sellers.
