Hello all.

I have been writing and performing solo shows in Chicago for the past 8 years. When my wife got pregnant I was doing my latest show which closed in February.

Realzing I would not have so much time to perform after her pregnancy of twins, I needed a creative outlet to keep me going.

My first book is now being written about what it is like being a father - for the first time - having twins. I have dedicated myself to keeping my journal for the last trimester of my wife's pregnancy and the first year of my babies lives. It combines my sense of humor with my experience as well as drawing on my own life and experience with my own parents.

Now in the twins' 7th month and just over 100 pages, I am seeking to get my book in the hands of an agent and hope to get a publisher before I even finish the work.

I found this site through searching for agencies so I thought I would post and see what kind of responses came through.

I'd appreciate any advice at this point.

Happy New Year!

Hi Cleetus! So glad to have you here. Sounds like a great book.

What kind of solo shows did you do?

Hi Cleetus, welcome to the boards. Will your book be a funny-stories type of book or on a more serious note? Either way, sounds interesting. My nephew (and his wife) at age 17 had a baby, at age 18 had twins! At age 20, they had triplets! Newspaper wrote a cute story with title "Man not old enough to buy beer, has six children" (fortunately they stopped there)

Thanks for the welcome waggon!

My latest show, White Like Me, is an autobiography of how I grew up in a middle-upper class Jewish suburb of Baltimore and wanted to be a rapper and comedian. You can visit me at www.whitelikeme.com.

Twinhood: A Father's Journey, is a compilation of journal entries about what I am going through with twins at age 35. It is funny for the most part but I do get into serious, more compelling topics when I reflect on my own family and how their influence has changed the way I see child rearing.

Although I am sure women will be into reading the book, it is meant for guys. When my wife got pregnant, I went to the book store to find a book written for me. Everything I found had something to do with science or something like that. I wanted to write something a guy cound keep in the bathroom or by his nightstand and get some laughs while identifying with it as well.

:)
