Quick, name your top ten favorite villains in urban fantasy!
Don't worry if you can't actually come up with ten. Just give us a couple.
For me, there's Roland from Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series. Even though he hasn't appeared in a book yet, Roland has cast a long, intriguing shadow over this series.
From the Dresden Files, there's the Order of the Blackened Denarius, a.k.a. the Nickelheads. Humans who have willingly bound their souls with those of the Fallen, and each of the Fallen has his or her own strength. Thousands of years old, with all the knowledge that comes of such age, the Nickelheads are compelling. Most have only been described in a few lines, but they come across as varied and scary.
Who do you love to hate, and why? Do you like villains who can be redeemed? Or do you prefer it when you're rooting for the villain's downfall?
