Found my way here via friend's suggestion - read for a while, finally joined now trying to get the hang of it all. Yikes! Became a writer to avoid human contact but have found it doesn't work like that so here goes...

Working writer for more than a decade, 21 novels on shelves or out of print (4 pen names, 5 pubs, 8 lines -- learned the craft in series romance now do mostly women's fiction, southern themed). Loads of accolades, lots of experience, great agent, contracts extended into the next few years. Still have to work part time at Booksamillion to pay bills (banks will not cash checks on good reviews). Thems the realities.

Looks like a great community here.

Welcome, Luanne! :hi: Glad to have you aboard. Feel free to drop by the Romance Forum and say hi over there too. We have some other category authors you might recognize, plus single title people and pre-published, as well! :)

I can't claim credit -- I saw it in an article in Publisher's Weekly, and thought it was cool. Sort of like "used" cars are now "pre-owned". :)

Wow Luanne! Welcome. That's some list of publications. Hope you like the joint! Unfortunately, you will find that there's a lot of human contact on these boards...but it's with fellow writers...so we all understand the sentiment! Welcome aboard!

Well, hi there, Annie. And heeeeeeeeer comes the neighborhood! We just got our doors delightfully blown off. What a credit list! I'll tell ya, if I wrote in your genre I know dang well who MY moving buddy would be. Looks like Cathy and Suan have got a neat new friend to hog to themselves. Sniff...sniff.

Ack, I'm communicating

Okay, I see it's unavoidable (communicating) around this place (really enjoying reading the bbs if not ready to jump in yet)

Thanks for the welcome, y'all!

No, BAM doesn't do a thing for me unless I go to a shelf and do it myself (this would be a good marketing mantra - go to the shelf and do it yourself). But I'm not working there right now (going back in the spring). Yesterday a friend explained that she thought even the chains had their niche markets and I should have known that (see, staying in a hole and writing isn't always smart) so that this current work is more B&N fare, so I hit B&N and there it is, main table, many copies. I signed those suckers to make them harder to return and wondered why I didn't get a job There? Do you think they'd make me talk to people? (confession - I am a customer service specialist, meaning I am nice to the public all day long, but secretly I think of how I can turn some of them into really awful characters who get their due in the next book)

annie/luanne (really that's a legal name, no one calls me that but my editor found out and made me use it because it sounds more "southern")

LOL! I have to admit :)o) that I've done my share of turning my books face out when I stop by stores. A couple of times, I've moved one or two of our latest title to a display where similar books were shelved. So sue me -- I think every author does it occasionally. ;)
