Just got a new puter and it comes with windows on it.

While loading some programs I was asked if I wanted Yahoo to be my browser. (Was asked about IE also.) I said no, but...........guess what? I now have yahoo as a browser. I have been all over this place trying to get rid of it and get back to chrome, without success. Before I had XP and now I think this one has windows 7?

Can anyone help me? I sure don't like the way this is set up. Thanks for any help you send my way.....:Hug2:

Do you mean yahoo toolbar?....you can uninstall it by going to programs under control panel in the start menu..

As for chrome if you downloaded and installed it. The browser should still be there...if you haven't yet you will have to use ie and redownload the install file.

Yahoo was not in the programs files. Chrome is.

Any place else I can find to delete it?

Not sure if this is what happened, but when you install Chrome it automatically ticks 'install yahoo browser' unless you opt out it. If that's what's happened, just uninstall Chrome, re install and un-check the yahoo browser box.

Hope this helps.

Wendy, did you ever get this fixed?

Sounds to me like a browser toolbar or plugin (Chrome calls them extensions). With very few exceptions, I hate them with a passion exceeded only by that for Sir Robin's Minstrels.

Can you get Chrome to launch at all? I have a couple of ideas if you can. If it's resolved, nevermind.

Google has this nasty habit of getting its Chrome browser part of other software installer. The other day I installed some VHS-to-DVD software from Rovio and Chrome replaced IE as my default browser as if by magic. No question asked. No checkbox to opt out. Nowhere in the manual or on the box did it say anything about this side effect.

Just uninstall it.
