I am new here, and a trifle nervous.

I am from India. I have published some stories in my native language. Presently, I am writing a novel in English (it's about 40% over). If it gets published, I'll become that strange being, the "Indian-Born English Author".

I have absolutely no idea about how things are in the world of professional writing. There's just this story in my head, hammering away at my skull, impatient to get out.

I hope all you experienced people out here will help me.

Thank you!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

My novel is based on Hindu mythology. It is about the death of Krishna, and the last days of the Kuru empire.

My main problem is getting stuck in the middle. There are umpteen number of times when I start well and run out of steam in the middle. Is it writer's block, or am I just plain lazy ? :sleepy: I don't know.

I think that's normal. Atleast it is for me. In my admittedly short experience, I've found that when I reach the middle, I slow waaaaay down to the point that I feel like giving up. If I just keep on plugging, pushing on, I get past it and the story speeds up again. Sometimes I'll jump ahead to write a scene I really want to write, or even write the ending. That worked for me ~ it got the juices flowing again. I started thinking, "Oh, yeah! Now I know what Laura has to do to get to this point!" It made it all clearer for me. I don't know if that would work for you, but it might be worth a try.

Welcome to the forum! :welcome: There is an incredible amount of help here. If my advice above doesn't do it for you, then hopefully something else that you find here will. Good luck! :tongue

Wait, I didn't get here yet! I still have to add my rousing hello! ;)

Welcome, Nandu!

Oh, and I hate middles. I could write beginnings and endings all day, but middles are tough!
