When to send a second nudge email

I would give him another two weeks to get caught up and hope you hear from him by then.

If an agent gives you licence to touch base, touch base. Most of these people are swamped, and if they've actually suggested you nudge them, its probably because, in their world, one week can become two months without any effort at all, best intentions aside. So, in a way, the periodic nudge, which they suggested, with a time-frame, is entirely appropriate. They opened that door for you. So, yeah - wait a shade longer than requested - give them space - and a short, polite reminder won't put them off. Might even remind them to read that book they're going to sell for you.

Wait until the six week mark. Publishing shuts down quite a bit around the holidays, and there's a good chance the agent in question is still playing catch-up.

I would personally move on without nudging. In my world, when someone you sent a reminder tells you to call back in a week, it just a polite way to say "no thank you". But don't listen to me. I am still trying to figure out how to do things out there.
