It's not out yet, but I thought I'd pre-start a thread. I'm not going to see it without seeing some commentary when it does appear (shortly). The trailer I've seen at least makes it appear that the actors are doing a remarkable job at emulating Moe, Larry and Curly.

On the other hand, I never much liked the Three Stooges.

We'll see, I guess.

I grew up watching The Three Stooges, so I'm looking forward to it a little bit.

I turn sixty in May, and I've always liked the Stooges; a latent anarchist, I guess.

But the stories going around about the problems the producers had trying to make the tale work make it appear it has Epic Fail writ large across it.

Oh, I love the Stooges, don't get me wrong. I still think Curly is hilarious. The Stooges were always for the working class. Pure slapstick with no rhyme nor reason. And the act was polished from years of vaudeville.

But I won't watch this movie. For one thing, I don't see what the point is. It's not a documentary (which I think they did a number of years ago anyway). This just seems like a poor imitation, a knock-off of the original. Worse even than the last few sad and embarrassing attempts by the Stooges to capture their former glory by bringing in Joe Besser, or worse Joe DeRita.

I thought the same thing when I saw the trailer. But overall, I don't think this is something that would translate well in 2012. But yeah, I bet those actors had a great time making it.

This movie is going to fail. The summary is: While trying to save their childhood orphanage, Moe, Larry, and Curly inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and wind up starring in a reality TV show.

Way too much is going on in it. A murder? Trying to save an orphanage? And they are on a reality TV show?

The trailer is funny and the actors have the voices and movements down pat but the story--okay the Farrelly brothers have never gone for stories all that much--just doesn't work for me.

I liked the Stooges until I turned seven or so but now and again, I will go to a YouTube segment of some of their 'better' acts which, once in a while and in small doses, can be rather clever and funny. The Stooges were low brow for the most part, but they knew where their bread and butter was. I can't see the F brothers improving on the original.
