Recently, I've been looking for instructions on script writing for graphic novels. There are tons of resources, and I've found an ehow page that is somewhat helpful.

However, I've encountered a problem. The vast majority of websites providing directions for script writing are intended for authors who will later send the script to an artist. I'm an artist writing my own script. Because of this, most script templates leave me confused.

I think I'm going to attempt to use the "Marvel" style, but if anyone knows a scripting style or template that author/artists generally use or find helpful, that would be much appreciated ^_^

if you're doing it all yourself, why do you need to find a template? you'd only really need to keep to an established layout if you were sending it to a company's art team, i'd think. if you're going to be doing the art, why not just do the layouts/thumbnails/scripts in a form that suits you?

Because I've never actually bothered with any form of layout/thumbnail/script before, and I'm not sure which one suits me, so I'm trying out scripts. But there seem to be a few different kinds of script, so I'm not sure if there's a script template people usually use in my position ^_^;;

First, I script.

I use a very basic script: Stuff that happens, location and time, character dialogues, etc.

Something like this:

(Police Station, Midnight)

*Bob walks in with Leah*

Bob: How many times have I warned you against riding pink flamingos downtown?

Then I thumbnail it without dialogue (just dialogue boxes) and finally I do the penciling, based on both the script and the thumbnails.

I'm goining with the 'screenplayish' format. Just describing where the characters are and typing the dialogue. Nothing fancy. Maybe download Celtx?

Celtx works fine and looks nice and tidy when you print it.
