Hi, all:

I just purchased Medieval 2 Total War Gold Edition through Steam today. After the purchase, in the "Library" section up popped 2 games--Medieval 2 Total War and the Kingdoms expansion.

Now, this is where it gets a little weird. Only one of the games started downloading (specifically the main game), and the other one has the message "Update suspended" by it, and it will not run. I've searched Steam's forums for a solution to this madness, but they have nothing.

Has anyone had a similar issue with this particular game, or with any game in particular? Has anyone found a solution to the "update suspended" frustration?

Let me know if you need my computer stats. This is the first game I've ever had trouble with.

Thank you in advance for your help...

Hmm. Can't say I've seen that. Let the first game finish downloading, then see if the other starts. If not, restart Steam and see. If still not, right-click the game, go down to Pause/Resume Update. If it says Pause, go ahead and Pause it, then try to Resume. If Resume doesn't clear the 'Update Suspended' status, then you'll probably need someone from Steam to assist or clarify.

I'd do what efkelley says. I have noticed that Steam at time will suspend updates. For example, sometimes when I launch another game it will suspend anything else it is doing. I'm not sure how it makes that decision and it doesn't happen all the time, but I've seen it happen. (More often when I'm downloading new games, not so much when it's just updates.)

Thanks for your input. The games, after much fighting and...er...swearing on my part, are finally running. Problem solved! :)
