Meh. Miss Kramer Bussel is the one I had such issues with last fall (no rejection note, no response to queries AT ALL).

Think I'll pass.

ETA: This isn't to say she's a bad editor. But I had a really neglectful experience that has soured me on trying to work with her again.

I have found that she does what she says she'll do. The rejection and other communications arrived in a timely manner and she replied to all of my emails. In one case, she didn't receive my submission the first time, but I was able to re-send it after the deadline. On her web site, she explains why she doesn't give feedback on rejected manuscripts.

Yeah. That happened to me too. I got a note "There was a problem with my email, please resubmit. Expect a response within a month." Three months later, still nothing. Queried two or three times over about 8 weeks. Still nothing.

To be clear, I don't expect FEEDBACK. But I DO expect a response (even if it's "No, thanks."). ESPECIALLY when an editor has said they WILL respond.

Personally, I don't have time for that kind of passive-aggressive run around. (And I seem to recall seeing someone else on AW who had a similar experience with Miss Kramer-Bussel.)

It's okay though. I sold that story elsewhere for the same money and non-exclusive rights.

All the calls I remembered seeing had dates for replies, not dates after which rejection could be assumed. I haven't had enough experience to comment beyond this.

Aggy, I understood you didn't mean feedback - I just mentioned that for others who might be wondering.

Oh. Right. I just expected that everyone knew most editors don't give feedback with rejections.

Obviously, this is still a bit of a sore topic with me. I still don't know why (or how) the communication broke down on that short story submission, but it left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I did everything I was supposed to, queried politely, waited 'til waaaay after the responses were supposed to have been sent out... nothing. It seriously grates on me when an editor drops the ball like that.

Egh.

Aggy, will eventually get over it

I meant she posted a detailed explanation of how she works, not simply a policy statement, which I agree wouldn't be new or interesting.

I just checked for the link and that site isn't there - not surprising since she mentioned something about a problem with one of her sites.
