Remember that one game that you just couldn't put down? That one that gripped you and just wouldn't let go? The one game you could classify as, dare I say it, your absolute favorite?

Because mine's Pikmin.
Best. Game. Ever.

Yep, for me it was Dark Age of Camelot. That game was lightning in a bottle. I hope someone can come close one day soon.

I don't remember one specific game that sucked me in, but I remember playing Super Nintendo for a few hours a day as a child.

Still needs to be made. So many of these games have the potential but none actually satisfy the thirst.

Here are some of my favorites

Pro Fishing Challenge
Elder Scrolls Series
TimeSplitters Series
Farcry Series
Fallen Earth
Test Drive Unlimited
Mech Warrior Series

For me it is always The First - the first sandbox I played (Operation Flashpoint), the first time I needed to use massive amounts of strategy (Hostile Waters), the first story which I needed to find out how it concluded (Deus Ex), the first stupidly annoying boss I couldn't work out how to defeat (Doom)... Those are the ones I go back to time and again to recapture a little of that excitement.

Muppet Racemania on PS1. I played that game to death. Every unlock, every course. I deleted my save games twice so I could do it all over again.

Elite sucked me in for ages too.

In recent years, Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect come very close.

This is almost embarrassing to admit, hahaha, because so many other hardcore FF fans hated it. I know it may not be the best, but I think Final Fantasy X will always be my favorite deep down. I played it when it first came out and I was just old enough to really start to grasp the deeper themes and have meaningful emotional reactions. I'd been playing games all my life and got into RPGs via the older ones like Shining Force/original FFs, but FFX got me hooked.

On some level, I feel like I owe Final Fantasies IV and VI something.

Also, the first two Legacy of Kain installments, Blood Omen and Soul Reaver. If later entries didn't live up to them, it's only because they set the bar so high.

Sonic Pinball on Sega. Serious. Played for days on end.

Also some WWF game on Playstation 1 (can't remember the title now) where you can make your own wrestlers and form tag teams. Played for months. Had wrote down my entire roster of my created wrestlers/teams.

Oh, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1.

How about games that you own way too many copies of as well?

I might have up to a half-dozen different copies of Final Fantasy II/IV between downloadable copies, carts and even copies on CD. I love me the everloving crap out of that game, and always end up going back to it again and again.

Guilty as charged! I've still got the original SNES cartridge. I've got the PS1 port. I've got the GBA port. I've got the DS remake. I've got the PSP port with The After Years included. I've been trying to get my hands on the Wonderswan version. For such a knight in shining armor, Cecil sure does shake me down often enough. I feel positively Mysidian. =p

The Baldur's Gate series and Dragon Age: Origins are my all-time favourites.

I also get immersed regularly in Medieval Total War II and Rome Total War. Civilisation IV is my go-to game when I just want to be completely distracted without having to expend much mental effort.

I have extra copies of the BG series box set, DA: Origins and Final Fantasy XII, all still in their shrink-wrapped state. The precious must be looked after!

::sigh:: Rhapsody: A musical adventure.

Loved Pancake attack.

I played the hell out of that game when I was a sophomore in high school. They came out with a version for the DS which I bought cause I lost my PS1 disc, but they changed some stuff around. Didn't care for it as much. Maybe it was a childhood thing.
