I'm not sure why this isn't working for me, my showquitwarning setting in the config is set to true, but whenever I hit the X in the upper-right, Firefox closes without asking if I'm sure first.
Ideas?
I almost never close my browser with only a single tab open, I can't even remember the last time I did that.
I have the warn on closing tabs check in tab options, as well as browser.tabs.warnOnClose, browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart, and browser.showQuitWarning all set to true but it still closes instantly.
I only get the alert message if I have multiple instances of Firefox open and the browser window I'm trying to close has multiple tabs open.
If the window doesn't have multiple tabs or if it's the only browser window open (regardless of how many tabs), it closes without a message.
Of course, I also have it saving all my current tabs (so it never technically closes those tabs before closing the browser). If you have that checked, perhaps you can uncheck it (Under "Tools | Options | General | Startup") and see if the message will appear.
You should invest in sessionmanager, or setting your homepage to about:home. Either way, you'll get the ability to restore previous sessions in FF. I can't imagine what would cause the close tab warning to fail. Since you seem to be messing with the config menu, that is probably what did it. >_>
I would suggest getting a session managing addon. It always pops up for me when I have multiple tabs open. Also, check your settings in:
[FF button] Tools>Options>Tabs>Warn me when I try to close a window with multiple tabs. <---- That should be checked.
