Hi all, newb here!;)

I was wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of creating a blog for erotic writing.

I read that WordPress will basically hide content considered "mature" and make it difficult to find and I've read that Blogger has an "adult content warning" option which seems to mean they allow for erotic content.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences with this?

Thanks ahead of time for your help!:snoopy:

Are you aware of any successful ones?

I'm at work this AM. Searching would be a bad idea for me.

I suppose it could acquaint you with a niche audience.

Translated.
I do know of someone who's been happily blogging under Blogger's [adult] content warning for a few years. I can't tell you directly because it would link back to my life here, which on pain of dismemberment and arse-firing must be kept totally and completely separate from work life.

Like, for reals.

But PM me if you want to know how to google it. She's a good writer, and she has many adventures.

I will also find you and set your arse afire without a qualm if you ever tell her how and from whom you got the address, so there's that. Be forewarned.

You can blog *about* erotica without posting large amounts of explicit material. I coast at the level of 'too hot for adsense' but 'okay with blogger'.

What do you want to get out of blogging? A chance to show off your work? Add to your portfolio of stories? Audience/platform development? Personal gratification? Make money?

The drawbacks of having a blog: it's time-consuming and takes a lot of dedication and effort, building an audience takes a long time, differentiating yourself is getting harder, making money is often tough, anonymity is never guaranteed if you need it ...

You can have a blog without going through the blogging services like Blogger or Wordpress if being behind an age wall is of concern to you. (If you're publishing explicit content, I highly recommend having some sort of warning or age verification on any blog you set up.)

That's a fair set of questions.

I'm in the "experimental" phase with erotic fiction and blogging, just testing the waters, so to speak.

Then of course a mix of showing off work, adding to a portfolio, some minor personal gratification and another excuse to write.

No monetary gain necessary. ;)
