I fell in love with Asian dramas years ago. I love the fact that most of their romances have very little sex. There are movies that don't have the two leads kissing at all and yet you still feel the chemistry between them. Most of movies now almost always have the leads in the bedroom within the first 24 hours of their meeting. Their horror films are too much for me though. I'm a scaredy cat.
Another awesome thing is that their stories have a plot. One plot, they solve it and its over. Unlike our television that milks a show until there's nothing left. Worse, they won't even draw a conclusion. They just stop all of a sudden.

You and I are watching very different dramas! There is plenty of sex, scandal and multiple problems in what I've seen. I watch mostly Chinese films though, I avoid Japanese stuff unless Takeshi Kaneshiro is in it, because... well... it's Takeshi Kaneshiro. The story telling is soooo different than Western storytelling. It's not uncommon for the story to pass from one character to another seemingly without rhyme or reason. There's a cultural thing at work there that I haven't picked up on yet.

I adore Kar Wai Wong's films. He actually did an film in English featuring Jude Law. Had all the trappings of a Chinese film, but no subtitles. I loved it!

Well, that could be it. I watch more Korean and Japanese than I do Chinese. Some can be too goofy for me. Takeshi Kaneshiro seems like he does more movies than tv shows. Have you watched Wu Xia?

Which are too goofy? I avoid the Wuxia much of the time. Though some Wuxia films (House of Flying Daggers) are really artfully done. Outside of Wuxia though, I haven't seen any goofiness. I have not see Wu xia ( How confusing is that? Hahahah Wuxia is not Wu xia) and I am anxiously awaiting its release on netflix since I can't pirate anymore.

Most of the Taiwanese dramas are far too 'cutesy' for me. That's probably a better word for it. Now that I think about it, I haven't watched any mainland tv shows. Just the movies.
