Do any of you in NYC ever get together and shoot the poop at a local bar or anything to discuss the craft or brainstorm? I'd be very much interested in such behavior... Cuz I do like drinking 'n' stuff...

There's plenty of meetup groups here, most of which I've tried at least once.

Just go to www.meetup.com and search "writers."

One in particular, Millenial Writer's Blok does exactly what you're thinking of- only it hardly ever meets. Then there's Self Publishing Scoop and Brooklyn Writer's Club which are more practical in nature.
