Anthology Call for Submissions

Are you distributing via Amazon only?

But what are your royalty rates? As you state, they will be equally distributed between the author's included in your anthology, but what's the base rate? Is it before kr after net? What rights are you asking for? How long are you asking those rights you do want to last

Do you have any experience editing an anthology? If so, who, what, when, and how? Your submissions link is very, very skimpy in regard to information in thus regard.

How will you distribute and market? Are your author's responsible for any marketing of the anthology and, if so, how much?

I'm curious about this anthology as well. I love the cover, and have a story I'd like to submit. A little elaboration on the terms of payment would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the info, I'm in. I have never submitted anything before but I will for this. The amazon reviews of the other books listed on the site seem very positive as to the quality of the editing.

Scott, let us know when you receive your contract. I'm interested in the terms (do not post the terms of the contract here in detail, but you can generalize them, generally).

Payment will be made 6 months from publication. Each contributor will receive an equal portion of royalties earned during the 6 month period and one paperback copy of the anthology.

I've never seen terms like that before, which seem to limit payment to only a six month sales window. Isn't a flat fee, or royalties for as long as the book is in print/for sale (with or without an advance payment) usually standard?

I'd be interested to know how "royalties earned" is defined. Many contracts limit them to sales for which the bookbuyer paid the bookseller and the bookseller paid the distributor and the distributor paid the publisher -- which often has a 3 - 6 month lag time built in.

That's why I'm raising questions, Unim. Thus far, no response to any questions from the original post.

I have serious doubts at this time if this anthology will ever see the light if day let alone electrons. I hope no one pays anything for getting into this.

Hi I'm Kate Jonez from Omnium Gatherum. I just stumbled upon this thread and I'd be happy to answer any questions for writers who are considering submitting to the Fortune Lost and Found anthology.

We are distributing via Amazon exclusively for 3 months. Then expanding to include B&N and other online retailers. The anthology will be available in paperback and ebook.

The one time payment is scheduled 6 months from the date of publication. From others I've contacted, the majority of anthology sales take place in the first 6 months. (I believe this payment should equal or exceed the payments made for semi-pro anthologies. Detritus authors including Kealan Patrick Burke, Jeremy C. Shipp are on track to earn what a semi-pro anthology pays) The exclusive anthology rights we ask for expire at 6 months also.

I'd be happy to discuss royalty rates at Omnium Gatherum privately for anyone who has submitted a story.

As for marketing, the editors, authors, and publisher share the social media marketing on Facebook Twitter, blogs etc. As publisher I take care of giveaways and contests and make sure ARCs and review copies make it to the appropriate places.
