We are an independent film production company. We're also the developer of the screenwriting software Script Genie (for Microsoft Word for Windows).

Because of who we are and what we do, we're always interested in what other screenwriters and filmmakers have to say about Script Genie: we're continually aspire toward making Script Genie even more usable, even more powerful, an even better tool for screenplay writing and formatting.

That's why we'd like to invite you to try Script Genie and let us know what you think. A free demo version may be downloaded from http://www.generalcoffee.com/genie.html.

Happy writing!

Hi General Coffee!

I downloaded Script Genie and had a bit of a play with it. I naturally tried to 'tab' over to create a character heading, but it seems that I must select this from a menu ? It didn't come up with any instructions, so I'm not that clear on using it.

The **FREE** one provided by the BBC is also a Word add-in, so what advantages do you have compared to theirs? Could you provide a checklist to compare yours to the competition?

Also, my VBA programming is rather lacking, but it took me about 15 minutes to bypass the 'don't allow saving the document unless they've paid us'. Seriously - I was just poking around to see how it worked and my second attempt to bypass the security worked. (Here in Australia, the power of license agreements to limit reverse engineering are severely curtailed - thankfully!)

OK - the $30 (USD?) price tag for registration is low enough to avoid people wasting their time to bypass the weak security, but it is something you should keep in mind ...

Mac.
(PS: Don't worry - I won't continue using my cracked version of Script Genie.).
