I asked this question in another part of AW, and someone suggested I ask here, so here I am.
I'm currently writing a book that's partly a bittersweet love story between two children (puppy love), and I'd like to know if there are other books out there like it. My book is quite dark (involving child abuse, bullying, and murder. It's not a romance--it's a literary dark fairy tale), but I'm not specifically looking for something dark. I mostly just want to see how other authors deal with the subject of children in love.
I'm looking for books that feature love story between young people--around 12 to 13 years-old (pubescent age. This is important, because any older than that--such as older teenagers, the relationship will be drastically different.). Ideally, it's not just immature infatuation, but something deeper, where the two children really care about one another--in other words, real love (yes, I think young people are capable of it, especially the precociously mature ones who have high emotional intelligence). And very importantly, I'm mainly interested in books for adults, not children.
The love story doesn't have to be the main focus of the book--as long as it's an important part of the book and written well. Thanks!
