What a busy forum. I've skimmed some of the threads and will have to come back to do some serious reading.

My name is Tammy. I've had a few flash fiction pieces published - mostly online - and I'm currently working on a book about my sister.

Happy to be here.

My sister died a couple years ago (I didn't post that because I'm trying to avoid the awkward I'm sorries). The book began as journal entries. As early as three months after her death, I was told I shouldn't talk about her anymore and even that my grief and her children's grief were not as important as my mom's. I began researching and discovered other siblings were told the same thing. The journal entries began to form a book about her life and about my grief process. I don't know if anything will come of it, but I feel compelled to write it.

That work is slow, though, and I work on short stories at the same time. Fiction is the fun part.

What do you write?

I'm sure that's not easy, but I hope it's rewarding. Writing has definitely helped me deal with grief.

It's not easy, but it does help. And putting it into a specific project has helped keep it from taking over the rest of my writing. It also helps that I work on several other projects at the same time, so I don't get stuck in the emotions.

Sibling grief is a different animal, isn't it? I'm still trying to deal with my brother's death and writing about it has been helpful--when I'm able to do so. Much success with your book. :)
