Hello everyone,
By the title of my post I'm sure most here can already imagine (or sympathize) with what I'm doing.

I've been lingering in the forums for awhile now--sans account--and one day I finally took the jump. So here we are.

I guess what I'm wanting from this site is to make new friends, and hopefully invoke the nerve to the get my novel published. Like others here I also have a completed work (still polishing), but I lack the seasoned prowess to get it out in the market. I am looking for beta readers, but it's been a chore getting to know the people before I hand them over my child.

My genre is a blending of science fiction and fantasy--leaning heavier on the science fiction scale. I'm still developing my writing style and voice, which often disappoints me. Yes, I am my own worst critic. I do love the classics, but I attempt to keep a more modern tone. I don't want the reader to stagnate after one chapter.

Hmmmmm...Well, I guess that's all for now. Thanks to everyone for stopping by.

Take some time and read the Newbie Guide and the Stickies found
at the top of Forum pages. They are your best guide to learning about
Absolute Write.

Don’t forget to read the FAQ regarding posting pictures at AW.

Members who want to start a thread in Share Your Work to have work critiqued need
50 posts. Don’t make a mad dash to reach your 50 posts. Take some time to greet fellow newbies,
critique other members’ works, or join a discussion.

Welcome! It can be hard to work up the nerve to send your 'child' :) out into the big marketing world. But you can do it! Also, the Share Your Work area is a great place to learn some tips about your writing.

I used to think I was my own worst critic until I sent a few stories out for submission. A curt "please don't waste my time" response letter made me realize that while I was a poor critic of my own work, I was far from the most negative. This taught me the value of a good editor and thick skin.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.
