Hello new friends!

Last year I graduated college with a double major in psychology and english (interesting combination huh?). I have since taken a full time job in retail management (which doesn't really fall under either major).

I am an avid reader (my mom is a librarian) and will devour almost any book I can get my hands on. Some of my favorite reads include Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter, Brideshead Revisited, Interview with a vampire...just to name a few. I'm also an *guilty pleasure* romance reader and love anything by julia Quinn.

I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of writer and joined AW to find some tips and resources for how to make my writing better and for encourgaement to stick with it. Anywho, looking forward to getting to know some fellow writers!

How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Cactuswendy- I do enjoy popcorn! Though I despise kettle corn (a sweet popcorn) which is really popular here.

I'm looking for ways to get involved. I thought about offering to beta read. Any other suggestions?

If you're an avid reader, you might consider sharing your views on submissions in the SYW ("Share Your Work") forums on your way to 50 posts so you can submit something there. We're always looking for fresh opinions on our submissions!

Speaking as a relative new-ish person (less than three months) if you go to SYW (Share Your Work) you can critique, and if you go to Office Party, there are a lot of interesting things going on there, so that you can get to know people. There's also a "Writing Exercises, Prompts & Whimsical Pursuits" section (in the same general area as the SYW) which usually has some interesting things going on.

There are mostly really nice and interesting people here. There are more than a few whackdoodles who are overwhelmingly great and a couple of whackdoodles who are.... decidedly not.

But, you'll figure it out.

Absolute Write.

Don’t forget to read the FAQ regarding posting pictures at AW.
