In true Charlie Kaufman style I have written myself into a script where I’ve sold a screenplay I’ve written and I’m meeting with the studio execs who have purchased my script.

The question I have is when do I get paid? When would I expect the check? And when does everybody else get paid… director, producer, star, for example if Jim Carrey was staring in my movie and getting 20 million, when would he see the 20 mil?

I may have more questions as I get into it… anyone in here worked on a movie?

Rent the movie "Adaptation". It stars Nick Cage as the writer of "Being John Malkovich". The story sounds a lot like the one you're writing. You should be able to find examples there.

Both were written by Charlie Kaufman. Cage plays both Charlie Kaufman and his twin brother who really doesn't exist. Both are brilliant scripts.

Wow, I'm actually reading Breakfast of Champions right now. It's pretty funny, and so far alot less cynical than Cat's Cradle or Slaughtehouse Five, though both of those were excellent. I think CC is my fav Vonnegut book out of the ones ive read.

A CC movie is actually slated for release in 2007....but Im not sure if thats a good thing. It would take a very talented director/screenwriter to pull it off, and so far the screenplay has mostly been written by James Hart, who wrote Tomb Raider and Muppet Treasure Island. >_<
